June 28th - Start of Trip

We headed out on Sunday, June 28th and stopped in Dalhart for the night.  After we ate some pulled pork, I noticed that I had broken a jaw tooth.  My first indication was that the sharp edges of the remaining portion was shredding the side of my tongue.

Before we camped and had pulled into to buy gas, a State Trooper stopped at the same gas station and told me that when I signaled right turn with the MH, the trailer was blinking left turn.  Oh boy, something new to mess with!  After our meal, I decided to cut all the wires and check everything with my tester.  Nothing worked.  I finally decided it might be the ground wire on the trailer so I worked on that.  As it turned out, this fixed the problem and all the wires had to be reconnected.  A nice police officer from Mesquite saw my frustration was actually instrumental in reconnecting the wires.

Monday morning, I called a dentist office and they graciously agreed to see me.  The doctor ground off the sharp edges.  It turned out that a crown had broken in half and the sharp stuff was the remaining part.  He said that I could continue my trip and I didn't need to miss any meals!  Yay!

Monday, we drove to Alamosa, Colorado and camped at around 2:00 p.m.  Next day, Tuesday, we drove on to Lake City, arriving around 1:00.  I was so tired that I barely had enough energy to hook everything up.  Today, I have to finish putting everything in its place such as the ez up the electric grill.

The Last Rodeo?  This trip has been nothing but a lot of work and we are seriously considering making a change in how we do our time away.  A motor home this size is just a beating, especially when trying to buy gas.  Also, the V10 engine runs hard during any sort of incline and simply stresses me out.  We are seriously thinking about selling it and buying a 24 foot MH on a Sprinter chassis with a Mercedes Benz diesel engine.  Who know where the squirrels will land.
